February 18th, 2013 Ashley transferred from the Nationwide Insurance Des Moines location to the Denver Tech Center. As her and her new team made their way through the floor her beige cubicle would be on, heads popped up over theirs to see the new group. That was Jeff and Ashley's first look at each other. After a few weeks of eye contact, small talk and smiles, Jeff and Ashley had their first encounter outside of the office. Jeff was smooth, confident, handsome and charming. He had her before she even knew it. Toward the end of that night, Jeff grabbed Ashley's hand and the rest is history.
The foundation of Jeffley's ( Jeff + Ashley) relationship began to mold. They became not only best friends, but considered each other family. Through this, they began to unfold layers of themselves and eachother. They spent most free time exploring together; Denver, The Springs, Aspen, Breckenridge, Boulder, Ouray, Estes, Steamboat, Grand Junction, Delta, Telluride, we could go on forever. They have ventured through Iowa, Arizona, California, Utah, Germany, France, Netherlands, Belgium and now Thailand and South Korea - all in less than three years. Hence the hashtag, #schmilleradventures. Together they found the most pure of moments while exploring the great outdoors; camping, backpacking, hiking, travel, nature and just about anything to do with adventure. Jeffery has completely changed Ashley's life in every single way. He helped her find and love herself more than ever before. His ambition, words of affirmation, gigantic heart and passion for thrill has helped Ashley bloom into a beautiful "wildflower" he calls her. Ashley has contributed tremendously to a few of the most joyful years of Jeffery's life. He has an adventure buddy who has helped him open up in all aspects of life and who motivates him in career, goals and personal development. He admires Ashley's heart and passion for kindness and helping others. Now, here we are, beginning the greatest #schmilleradventure yet. We aren't sure what to expect, but we are safe and secure because we have each other. We are thrilled to have such supportive family and friends surrounding us for life and we look forward to sharing the journey with you.
He asked and she said yes.
On 2.28.2016 after the most wonderful day splashing, playing and feeding rescued elephants in Chiang Mai, Thailand, Jeff had planned a date with me. I had been out getting my nails done, not intentional, I was taking advantage of the $5 manicures from Thailand's finest. I came around the front entrance to the hostel about 30 minutes (fashionably) late to see Jeff standing there, handsome as ever, with the biggest grin on his face. He had a tuk tuk waiting out front, took my hand, gave me a kiss and off we went. After about a 30 min ride through Chiang Mai, we pulled up to the Royal Flora Rajapreuk. This place was breathtaking. A nature lover's dream come true. The entrance was welcoming with buddhas and plants galore. The sidewalks were paved and lined with flowers of every color imaginable. We covered every square inch of the Rajapreuk in awe of the beauty. Jeff put flowers in my hair and told me how beautiful he thought I was at least 50x. He made me feel perfect in every way. We took a walk through the temple at the center of the Flora and hiked up the grass covered hill to watch the sunset. After just moments of sitting still, taking in the scenery and peace and quiet, Jeff began to walk me through our journey and his thankfulness for our friendship and unconditional love for eachother. He looked at me with tear filled eyes and said that the last 2 1/2 years have been the best years of his life. He continued to tell me that he has known for a long time that he wanted to be with me forever and said "I don't want to wait any longer." Every word was nothing short of heartfelt and perfect. I still did not realize what exactly was happening, all I remember in that moment was him pulling a round shaped, wooden item out of his bag, he got on one knee and said "Ashley Miller, will you marry me?" The best moment of my entire life. We celebrated right there with champagne, photos, smiles and laughter. It truly was a fairytale. After we shared our intimate moment, we celebrated with some of our closest friends. We ended the night together in a hotel video chatting our family. It was absolutely surreal.
